Vincent Janssen likes talking to the Dutch media so it was inevitable that during the current international break there would be several interviews with the Tottenham Hotspur striker.
The first one is a lengthy effort with Helden magazine, in which the Dutch international talks about various aspects of his current career and transfer to Tottenham.
Janssen was once again asked about the competition of Harry Kane, and if he was completely aware of the situation when he agreed to sign for Tottenham. Repeating everything he’s said previously, about being totally aware of Kane’s status, and playing second fiddle, Janssen revealed what manager Mauricio Pochettino said to him: “He said honestly – “We have Harry Kane, but we can certainly use someone behind him Furthermore we play Champions League, we play so many games that we want an extra striker and you are exactly the type we’re looking for.”
“After that visit I knew I wanted one club.”
Pochettino’s honesty appears to have impressed Janssen, who has gone about his work well since signing for Tottenham. Of course, there’s the rather glaring issue of goals, but that should click into place sooner or later for the 22 year old.
It’s not just Pochettino who worked to convince Janssen, Daniel Levy did too, with the striker saying: “The chief of Tottenham Daniel Levy also said that they wanted me very much and that I should have pride to be allowed to wear the shirt of Spurs.”
