Victor Valdes seems to be everywhere at the moment. The Spanish media are very keen to report on the goalkeeper’s good match against Manchester City, and Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka has helped everything along by speaking about Valdes in a Spanish interview.
Mundo Deportivo say: ‘The image of Victor Valdes’ euphoria, captured by photographer Alex Livesey, says many things. Not only is this a goalkeeper celebrating a goal… it’s more than that.’
They continue: ‘It is the satisfaction of a person enjoying their profession. It is the cry of a footballer who has regained confidence after a serious knee injury which prevented him saying goodbye to a life at Barca. It is the leap of a human being who has found the support that he did not get from Louis van Gaal.’
Isn’t it just a player being really excited and happy that his Middlesbrough team scored an injury time goal to snatch a point from Manchester City? Perhaps that’s just us.
Either way, Valdes continues to be reported on and it all seems positive, which can only help the Middlesbrough goalkeeper continue to rebuild his confidence and career.
Valdes has appeared quite fragile at times, and so confidence will breed further confidence and should clearly show in his performances.
