Leeds United goalkeeper Marco Silvestri has revealed he was happy after last week’s EFL Cup clash with Norwich City, despite losing his place in the team in this campaign. Since 2014 the 25-year-old has made the No.1 spot position his own, but he’s had to step aside since Rob Green signed in the summer from QPR.

In an interview with Gianluca di Marzio, Slivestri was asked about Leeds United reaching the quarter finals of the EFL Cup following their penalty shootout win last Tuesday.

The Italian said they knew the game with Norwich City wouldn’t be straightforward, and especially for him because of the lack of game he’s had since Garry Monk was installed as the manager of the club. However, Silvestri is relieved it went well on the night, and was delighted with the win.

“Norwich is one of the best in this league, we knew it would be difficult. And it was even more difficult for me because I came in when I was not playing. But it went well, I’m happy,” said the Leeds United star.

Silvestri joined Leeds United from Chievo, and since arriving in England he’s made nearly 90 appearances in the league for the club. However, this season he’s yet to make a league appearance, but has played three times in the EFL Cup.
