Barcelona have identified Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as an alternative target to Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martínez.
This is according to Sky Italia, who state there’s been no new developments in negotiations between the Nerazzurri and the La Liga winners.
Prior to Inter’s victory over Sampdoria, CEO Giuseppe Marotta said he remains optimistic of retaining the Argentina international at the San Siro.
Antonio Conte’s side have maintained their position that the 22-year-old can only leave if a suitor decides to pay his €111m buyout clause or a fee around that region.
It’s claimed the Catalan club are not in a position to prepare such a huge offer and they may no longer be able to meet Martínez’s asking price.
Therefore, Barca have ‘already identified an alternative plan’ and ‘plan B is called Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’. The player’s contract at the Emirates expires in 2021 and rumours will continue unless a renewal is agreed.
According to the report, Inter have also identified the Arsenal forward as a target, in case of Martínez’s exit.
Sky Italia add that apart from Aubameyang, Paris Saint-Germain’s outgoing attacker Edinson Cavani is also a target for Barcelona. The Uruguayan will be available on a free transfer this summer.
