Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson had a chat with the Brazilian media on Friday morning.
Following the 2-0 win against Arsenal on Thursday night, the 26-year-old spoke to ESPN Brasil about the end of the Coronavirus break and the feeling of getting back to the pitch.
Ederson was involved in an incident with Eric Garcia. When leaving his box, the goalkeeper ended up hitting his teammate, who had to be taken out of the game and spent the night at hospital.
“I was talking to him just before the interview. I was unable to be with him yesterday after the match because from the stadium he went straight to the hospital and went straight to the observation. But it was just a big scare, he’s fine,” Ederson told ESPN Brasil.
“He only has a small cut inside the lip. Today I talked to him, I apologised. I said it wasn’t my intention to hurt him. But there it was a decision that I had to make. But he understood well, we talked. He’s a boy that I like a lot, I always joke with him here on a daily basis, he knows that. So thank God he’s okay, it was just a big scare.”
The goalkeeper created a couple of chances against Arsenal, as his long passes have been becoming one of his greater characteristics since playing under Pep Guardiola. Asked about who is the better passer between him and Kevin De Bruyne, he’s picked himself.
“Ederson, of course. The long distance is me.”
Ederson has also been asked about his plans for the future, and if his intention is to stay at Manchester City for the long term.
“I intend to, because it’s a league that I am passionate about, it is a league with many emotions. For those who follow from outside it’s already an incredible thing, for me who used to follow and now I live it… It’s surreal for me.
“I have a five-year contract. I hope to fulfil the contract and if possible stay for longer.”
