Watford remain keen on Reims left-back Hassane Kamara and have already made a €3m offer to sign him this summer.

That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say there is something of a race for the full-back, who has impressed for the Ligue 1 side this season.

Several clubs are vying for his signature, particularly as his contract is expiring in a year, and Watford are one of them.

We covered a report on their interest from Foot Mercato back in January, with it claimed at the time they had made a bid for him.

What that offer was, wasn’t mentioned, although it was made clear that it was a sum lower than Reims asking price of €5.5m.

It seems their interest has not abated and they have now returned with another bid, and this time Foot Mercato are specific about the total.

They claim that Watford have offered €3m plus €2m in bonuses for the 25-year-old, although whether this is enough for Reims isn’t mentioned.

What is clear is that, if Watford are keen on his signature, they will face stern competition from France and particularly Marseille.

They’ve been tracking Kamara since last August and remain ‘very hot on the case’.

They could ‘quickly draw’ a first bid as ‘initial discussions’ have already taken place between the player and the club.

His profile is said to ‘appeal’ to manager Andre Villas-Boas who has long been on the hunt for an alternative to Jordan Amavi.
