Director happy with Tottenham Hotspur transfer deal, thought ‘wow’, everyone satisfied

 

The technical director of AZ has told the Dutch media he thought his club came out well when they sold Vincent Janssen to Tottenham Hotspur. The Netherlands international joined the Premier League side in the summer for £17m.

Voetbal Primeur have reported on comments Max Huiberts made when asked about Janssen heading to England in the last transfer window. Huiberts believes his club, Tottenham and Janssen all benefited from the sale of the forward, and is glad the completion eventually went smoothly. However, Huiberts does realise AZ have lost one of their best players, but said this is now a reality for Dutch football.

“Afterwards I thought: Wow, nice, we have done well. I was relieved that it was completed well, the purchaser, Vincent Janssen, and we were very satisfied. I also understand the fans who think we have lost a very good player, but that just happens and we have to deal with it in the Dutch league,” said the AZ chief.

Janssen signed for Tottenham in July after the forward agreed to a four-year deal with the North London club. The 22-year-old impressed for AZ last season, finishing the campaign as top scorer in the Eredivisie, but has struggled for goals in his first few months in England.

However, the player scored a brilliant goal against Belarus last week, which will give the forward much needed confidence going into this weekend’s game.
