Manchester City have reached an agreement to sign Alianza Lima youngster Kluiverth Aguilar, with the defender set to arrive in May 2021.
Depor report Pep Guardiola’s side are set to ‘take’ the 16-year-old when he turns 18 in a year and already have an agreement in place for the transfer.
City have been linked with the highly-rated youngster since last September when it was first claimed they were interested in his signature.
There has been several updates since then, although his club went out of their way to deny a deal had been done in November.
It seems that has now changed, though, with Depor saying the youngster, who they describe as the ‘jewel’ of Alianza Lima, is ‘close to wearing the Manchester City shirt’.
However, they also state the deal is in fact with City Group, as opposed to Manchester City directly, so there is every chance Aguilar will end up at either New York City, Mumbai City or Melbourne City at some point in future.
Aguilar is the latest youngster the group have scooped up, with City having made it a priority to target young talent around the world ahead of the competition.
It now remains to be seen if he ends up making the grade, or if City’s plans end up being a carbon copy of what has happened at Chelsea down the years.
