Romain Saïss spent his playing career in France before arriving at Wolverhampton Wanderers from Angers in 2016.
Having featured regularly in the Championship winning campaign in the 2017/18 campaign, he didn’t feature regularly last campaign, making only 12 starts in the league.
Things have improved for the Morocco international this term as he’s made 13 starts in the league, while operating as a centre-back or defensive midfielder.
Foot Mercato had an opportunity to sit down for an interview with the 29-year-old and while talking about his future, the versatile player was asked if he could consider returning to the French league in the future.
He said, “Honestly, these are not the questions I ask myself. I feel very good at Wolverhampton. Then you know as well as I do how football is, so you should never say never.
“But for the moment everything is going very well for me in England. I feel very good at the club and I don’t pay attention to the rest.”
Saïss’ contract at Molineux expires in 2021 and when further quizzed on what he wishes for the future, he stressed: “Health, because without that we are nothing.”
Wolves manager Nuno Espírito Santo also came in for praise: “Totally! We keep a certain stability and the players know each other very well. We have a homogeneous group that lives very well.
“The coach has established a good dynamic. We have a small group of players, about 19 players including the goalies. Suddenly, everyone is involved.
“Since he joined the club, he has wanted to bring a little more technical touch, which stands out from the traditional English game.”
Speaking about his relationship with the manager, Saïss added: “It is excellent. We talk a lot and we are both transparent. When he has something to tell you, he does it immediately.”
