If you were to ever draw up a heat map of Everton’s scouting activities, then Portugal would be an intense red.
The Blues are barely out of the country these days, and rarely a week goes by in which they aren’t at either a Benfica or Porto game.
Their latest trip to the country saw them take in Porto vs Famalicão, with A Bola reporting they were one of several sides at Sunday’s game between the two title challengers.
It proved to be a disappointing evening for the away side, who are managed by former Everton assistant João Pedro Sousa, as they were beaten 3-0 to suffer their first defeat of the season.
There’s no mention from A Bola of who the Toffees may have been there to scout, but the newspaper makes it clear that both clubs are worth keeping an eye on as they need to sell players in the January transfer window.
It’s that need that has probably drawn the likes of Everton to watch their games and hope to discover someone who may be worth pursuing, like a striker?
