Giovanni van Bronckhorst says he is doing well at Manchester City, but only views his time at the club as an ‘interim solution.’
The Dutchman joined Manchester City this summer, with the Premier League champions electing to hand him an access-all-areas role at the club.
Publicly, City insisted it was an informal arrangement between the two parties, with Van Bronckhorst simply filling his time and City happy to have him behind the scenes.
That was refuted in the media, though, with several newspapers claiming that he had been handed a contract at the club after City chiefs persuaded him to end a sabbatical following his departure from Feyenoord.
Guardiola’s contract expires in the summer of 2021, and those in charge at the Etihad are keen to ensure there is a plan in place should the Catalan boss decide to move elsewhere.
So far that is pure speculation, but Van Bronckhorst has insisted he is looking to return to management in the long-term.
“I am doing well,” he told Voetbal International, relayed by Voetbal Primeur.
“I have been to Manchester a number of times and travel a lot. I see new things, experience new things and continue to develop. For me, that is very beautiful at the moment.
“Ultimately, I want to be a head coach again. That is the best thing for me. This is a great interim solution.”
