Back on Monday, we covered a story from Portuguese newspaper O Jogo with some interesting details about Yuri Ribeiro’s transfer from Benfica to Nottingham Forest.
The article claimed that since Benfica can’t loan out many players due to the rules of Portuguese football, they’ve been giving them away permanently and keeping 50% of a future transfer.
Now today, the same newspaper comes up with a story claiming that Nottingham Forest aren’t paying for either of the two signings they’ve made from Benfica this week.
Alfa Semedo has moved on a one-year loan deal, with no buying option, and Ribeiro has moved on a permanent transfer.
Yuri Ribeiro had a contract with Benfica until 2023, having signed a five-year extension just last year.
So it’s interesting to see him move on a free deal.
Perhaps the Eagles are really confident that Nottingham Forest will be making some good money from him in the future.
