It’s been a while since Portuguese newspaper A Bola showed worry about Ruben Dias’ release clause at Benfica.

The defender’s price tag of €66m it said to be too low for the transfer market, especially now that Matthijs de Ligt could be heading to Juventus.

A Bola points out that the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain could all turn their attentions to the Eagles’ defender now.

Benfica are already in talks to raise the clause to €120m, but while it doesn’t happen, they are afraid they could lose one of the most important players in the squad.

Sometimes we blame the Portuguese press for feeding some transfer rumours for too long, but in many cases, they’re just replicating what they see in the English media.

That’s where A Bola saw the story saying that now that now Manchester United have missed out on signing Kalidou Koulibaly and Mats Hummels, Ruben Dias is set to become a priority for the summer.

A Bola have been linking the Old Trafford side to Dias for a few years now, but this time, it’s the claims from England that are giving the latest stories a boost.
