Argentine club River Plate have confirmed there are negotiations going on for the sale of Everton target Santiago Sosa.
The Millionario’s vice president Jorge Brito has spoken to radio La Red, and admitted the midfielder could be leaving this summer.
Outlet Olé says he was directly asked about the talks with Everton, and said: “There is a negotiation opened for Sosa, but I don’t want to give more details.”
However, we don’t only bring good news about this transfer. That’s because according to TNT journalist Nicolas Distasio the player is having a hard time getting a work permit to play in the Premier League.
Both quotes make a lot of sense. Reliable outlets from Argentina have been saying that negotiations for the transfer are indeed open, but his agent is currently in London trying to sort out the work permit issue.
Sosa’s release clause at River Plate is said to be about €15m. He has only appearances for the club, none of them in Copa Libertadores, so it’s hard to believe that the FA is granting him a visa at this time.
