Leeds United manager Garry Monk could be faced with the same dilemma as former boss Neil Redfearn following comments from Pontus Jansson whilst on international duty with Sweden.
It was well documented in 2015 that six Leeds United players were suddenly pulled from the squad for their game against Charlton Athletic, with Antenucci being one of those.
A statement put out by Leeds United said the six players were injured, but there were claims Antenucci was dropped because he had a clause in his contract which meant Leeds United had to give him a year extension to his contract if he scored 12 goals that season.
This led to reports Redfearn was put under pressure not to play the Italian forward, which eventually resulted in him leaving the club at the end of that season.
With Jansson revealing he has a similar clause in his contract this could spell trouble for Monk if the Sweden international closes in on 20 games, and the powers that be aren’t sure they want a permanent deal.
