Having won their last nine games in all competitions, Arsenal have a chance to make it to magic number 10 on Monday night if they beat Leicester City at the Emirates.
Taking over from Arsène Wenger in the summer, Unai Emery had a huge task at hand, and, despite a few early stumbles, he seems to be doing rather well.
A win against Claude Puel’s men would see Arsenal climb to just two points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City, putting the Gunners in a position they haven’t really been in since Leicester City’s title winning season: challenging for top spot.
Form aside, however, some still don’t believe Unai Emery and his men have what it takes to be considered a serious threat for the league, including one of their former midfielders, Emmanuel Petit.
“They are quite reduced options wise if some of their main players get injured. They’ve also snatched a few of those victories from the jaws of defeat”.
That seems a little harsh, as the last few outings, at least against Fulham and Qarabag, have been rather comfortable.
Monday night’s game will be followed by two away fixtures against Sporting CP and Crystal Palace, before a Carabao cup game against Blackpool.
Nine could very easily become 12 before that tough game against Liverpool at home.
