After failing to sign Moussa Marega from Porto this summer, it seems that West Ham United will have another chance to buy the striker in a year.
It’s been a tough month for the 27-year-old, who after trying to force his way to the Premier League club, was taken out of the Dragons’ squad for a few games.
After apologising for his behaviour, Marega ended up returning to the team, and even scored a goal last weekend in the match against Moreirense.
Now the player has been rewarded with a new contract, which will run until 2021 and gives him a pay raise. His release clause stays the same, though, standing at €40m.
Despite mentioning how close West Ham got to signing him in the summer, there’s still nothing about a new attempt from the Hammers to try to get Marega in the future.
What the Premier League side probably know now is that they should go and pay for the release clause instead of insisting on bids that Porto just won’t accept.
