It appears both Gazzetta dello Sport and Il Tempo got over their Monday blues rather quickly.

The pair were extremely pessimistic about Felipe Anderson’s chances of becoming a West Ham player after the Hammers made a move to sign Andriy Yarmolenko, but it seems all they really needed was a Globo Esporte update from Brazil, probably accompanied with a shot of guarana extract, to bring them back to life.

The South American outlet explained renewed talks were more than positive, with a belief the whole thing could be completed for around £38m (around €43m).

Gazzetta dello Sport pick up on this on Tuesday, telling their readers West Ham have ‘appeared again’, but that Claudio Lotito will not accept less than €45m.

While that wasn’t the most positive or enthusiastic update, it’s certainly a lot better than their doom and gloom angle from the previous day.

Il Tempo, on the other hand, are all smiles, revealing ‘important steps’ were taken on Monday between West Ham and Lazio, with Igli Tare, the Italians’ director of football, and Felipe Anderson’s agent, working hard to sort it out in the next few days.

Furthermore, Kia Joorabchian and Gianluca Bertolucci, both involved in the Brazilian’s transfer, have also come forward with a potential replacement in Ajax’s David Neres.

Maybe, just maybe, this will get done, but we don’t expect it to be easy.
