In October Newcastle United had a scout watch Gent and it was suggested in Belgium that Moses Simon could be a player on their agenda. Simon scored a goal in a 3-0 victory over Zulte Waregem, and will have caught the eye.

It’s not the only time Newcastle United have scouted Gent this season and the club have looked to recruit from Belgium in recent years, with Chancel Mbemba and Aleksandar Mitrović joining from Anderlecht, and Matz Sels arriving from Gent.

Therefore, claims from All Nigeria Soccer are interesting. They state Newcastle United were one of a number of clubs who had a scout watch Nigeria draw 1-1 with Senegal at Brighton’s Hive ground.

All Nigeria Soccer believe Moses Simon, Wilfred Ndidi, Eddy Onazi and Oghenekaro Etebo will have been of interest to those attending. Joining the dots, it’s not hard to believe Newcastle United are keeping a close eye on 21 year old Simon, a winger.

Rafael Benitez will be compiling a long list for the summer, and the Gent player could be part of that.
