Arriving at Molineux from Lazio in the same deal as Pedro Neto, Bruno Jordão hasn’t enjoyed the same success as the Wolverhampton Wanderers winger.
Unlike his compatriot, the midfielder has spent most of his time at Wolves away on loan, with the last taking place this summer when he was sent to Santa Clara in Portugal for the season.
He has, however, yet to make an appearance for them, and the Liga Portugal side explained why Thursday in a statement on their website.
They explain the 23-year-old has been sent back to England for the time being ‘in order to undergo surgery’, which will ‘take place under the responsibility of the medical department of Wolverhampton’.
That’s all they give us other than the fact that Jordão ‘will only be able to compete again in 2023’, meaning he is out until at least January.
A Bola provide a tad more information, stating that this is ‘an old injury’, which was ‘undisclosed’ and ‘only known to be complicated’, that has ‘insisted on bothering him’.
To date, Jordão has only made five appearances for Wolverhampton Wanderers since his transfer in 2019, scoring one goal in a 1-1 draw against Reading in the EFL Cup back three years ago, which ended in a 5-3 win on penalties.
He has since enjoyed loans to Famalicão, Grasshoppers Zurich and now Santa Clara, to whom we can only assume he will return to finish the season once he has recovered from his surgery.
