Flamengo’s Wallace Yan is on Wolverhampton Wanderers’ agenda for this summer.

The forward joined the Brazilian club’s academy in 2023 and made his way into their first team last year. He only started to enjoy regular minutes this year, scoring six goals and registering three assists from 15 games.

Globo Esporte say the 20-year-old has had a ‘meteoric rise’ at Flamengo which has caught the attention of European clubs, including Wolves.

Wallace Yan came off the bench and scored a goal each in his side’s win over Chelsea and Los Angles FC in the Club World Cup. His performances this year have sparked interest from Europe and Globo only mentions Vítor Pereira’s side.

Wolves have made an approach to ask about the Brazilian and his agent is aware of it. At this point in time, the Premier League club haven’t made an official bid.

The young attacker has a contract lasting until December 2027. The report states it includes a release of €33m for clubs in Brazil and €40m for those outside the country. It’s unclear if Wolves are willing to activate his clause or make an offer.

Flamengo manager Filipe Luís feels his side are in a comfortable position to retain Wallace Yan.

“No worries [about Wallace Yan’s contract]. He is well protected by Flamengo, he certainly has a well-protected contract,” he said.

“He is a player we have a lot of confidence in, a guy who is hungry to win, ambitious and fights every day to achieve his goal. Consequently, he helps our team and Flamengo a lot.”

“There’s still a lot of room for improvement, and the first step is what he’s doing on a daily basis. He wants it more than anyone else, he works harder than anyone else.”

“I’m very happy because for me he was already a thing, but today he has become a reality for the fans. He’s a very important player who also gives us versatility and one of the most necessary things for an attacking player, which is scoring goals.

“I’m very happy for him. I hope he continues to improve every day.”
