Wolverhampton Wanderers determination to sell Fabio Silva permanently has seemingly put an end to a move to Club Brugge.
That’s according to La Dernière Heure, relayed by Voetbal Nieuws, who say the Belgian club simply don’t want to sign the striker for the price Wolves quoted them.
The newspaper explains that Brugge were on the hunt for a new striker after selling Igor Thiago to Brentford and Silva was a name they looked at.
He was part of a plan to look at ‘bigger names’ and see if there were deals to be done. Ultimately, though, Wolves asking price stopped any move happening.
According to the newspaper’s information, while the striker is not a part of the plans at Wolves, they only wanted to talk about a permanent transfer.
When Brugge opened negotiations, they demanded at least €16m for the 22-year-old. That quickly put an end to a deal as the Belgian side don’t want to pay such figures for players.
They certainly didn’t want to pay such a figure for a player they consider to have ‘achieved little’ in the past 18 months.
The Belgian side would have had to work to convince Silva anyway. He was reportedly uninterested in the switch after loan spells at Anderlecht, PSV Eindhoven and Rangers in recent years.
It seems he wants to start somewhere else, permanently, and Brugge was not in his sights. That, coupled with Wolves asking price, put an end to any move to Belgium happening this summer.
