According to a claim in the Portuguese media, FC Porto are closing in on a deal for Norwich City forward Borja Sainz.

The Spaniard was linked with Porto last month following reports Norwich had rejected a €15m offer from the Portuguese club.

However, at the time it was reported Porto hadn’t given up in signing the 24-year-old and Record now report an improved offer is being lined up.

Record say talks between the two clubs have been ongoing and negotiations have now progressed.

It’s claimed Porto are now prepared to offer more than their initial €15m bid as both parties look to come to an agreement. Bonuses will also be included as part of any potential deal, although no details of what these will entail have been reported.

With Sainz’s contract expiring next summer, Norwich City are under some pressure to sell in this transfer window or risk losing him on a free transfer in 12 months’ time.

Sainz made 43 appearances in all competitions last season for the Canaries, scoring 18 goals.
