Those dastardly Premier League clubs often cause problems for others elsewhere in Europe… especially when those other clubs are trying to get bargain deals.

When an English top division side moves into the picture then the chances of a bargain drop hugely. A Bola report this is the case of Zeno Debast and Sporting’s efforts to sign the central defender.

Sporting know they may lose Ousmane Dembele and Goncalo Inacio this summer, so are looking to replace them. Despite them set to receive huge fees for the pair named, they want to get a cheap option and that’s seen 20-year-old Debast targeted.

The RSC Anderlecht player has just over a year left on his current deal, which puts some pressure on the Belgian club.

West Ham have been ‘intensifying contacts’ to sign him in recent days, after showing interest at roughly the same time Sporting did.

The Lisbon based club want to agree a deal ahead of the Euros, and will make an offer in the next few days. They’re being panicked into a rush because of interest from elsewhere and the club that ‘worries them the most’ is West Ham.

Of course, the Hammers can offer more money to both Anderlecht and Debast, but they can’t offer the Champions League football which will be available at Sporting.

A Bola say Anderlecht want €18m, although we feel that could rise a little, at least in terms of potential bonus payments, given West Ham involvement.

€20m including a couple of million in bonus may be the trigger point.
