On Thursday, Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport reported on West Ham’s interest in Cagliari striker Roberto Piccoli.
There were claims the Hammers have made initial enquiries for the Italian, who joined Cagliari permanently after spending the 2024/25 season there on loan from Atalanta.
Sardinian newspaper La Nuova Sardegna, as relayed by TuttoCagliari, report today about West Ham’s interest in Piccoli.
They give hope to Graham Potter’s side, claiming that Cagliari’s asking price of €25-30m is unlikely to be an ‘insurmountable obstacle’ for the London club.
Il Tirreno journalist Giuseppe Boi, as relayed by TuttoCagliari, has more information.
He reports that West Ham should be able to offer €25m and this will hand them an advantage over Benfica in the race, with the Portuguese side struggling to meet Cagliari’s demand.
The 24-year-old’s sale would provide the Italian side with a hefty capital gain. The striker joined permanently from Atalanta last month for a fee of €12m.
That is quite high for a club which isn’t associated with spending major fees and this shows that Cagliari are pretty desperate for a sale. If anything, they are pushing an auction for the striker.
