West Ham United have ‘almost reached an agreement’ with Montpellier for striker Elye Wahi as they push to secure Gianluca Scamacca’s replacement on the same day they were reported as being close to signing Mohammed Kudus.
That’s according to RMC Sport, who say the striker has been left out of the squad for the clash between Montpellier and Lyon because of the developing transfer.
They explain that the Hérault club are ‘in the process’ of reaching an agreement with West Ham and Lens for the player and are ‘close to agreeing’ deals with both clubs.
They’re currently negotiating a deal worth €35-40m plus bonuses for the forward, who will be left to make the decision on where he heads next.
West Ham are an option as they look to replace Gianluca Scamacca, who departed for Atalanta earlier this month after an unsuccessful one year stay at the London Stadium.
Eintracht Frankfurt are also in the mix for Wahi but haven’t made any concrete moves as yet as they wait to see what happens with Randal Kolo Muani, who is being targeted by Paris Saint Germain.
That is presumably why West Ham and Lens are pushing to get a deal done now and an agreement is now close with Montpellier.
When it is finalised, the decision will be left to Wahi, who will make his decision ‘imminently’ and has been left out of this weekend’s squad to do so.
