Last month, we covered claims from Brazil that Luizão aims to revive his West Ham United career under Julen Lopetegui, after being overlooked by David Moyes. It was also stated the centre-back’s entourage would welcome a transfer.

The 22-year-old is yet to make an appearance for West Ham’s senior team since joining them from São Paulo in January 2023.

Corinthians have now stepped in to take the defender away from West Ham. Brazilian journalist Samir Carvalho first reported their interested, and it was then backed up by Globo Esporte, who provide more details on this case.

Luizão has less than two years left on his contract and the Brazilian club have made an offer to sign him on a season-long loan deal. The Premier League side have ‘accepted the offer’.

It’s claimed West Ham are now negotiating with Corinthians for the purchase option and any percentage they will receive from a future sale. An agreement is expected to be reached on these details.

A move to Corinthians would see the West Ham defender get more minutes and hopefully aid his progression.
