If you were up bright and early, you might have spotted a couple of stories stating that Napoli were interested in Celtic’s Kieran Tierney.
The Scottish defender, strongly linked with a move to Arsenal, has yet to commit to the Gunners, meaning there’s still a chance for the Serie A side to slide in there and beat them to it.
In fact, there are two different stories in Italy about it, one from Corriere dello Sport’s Campania (Naples’ region) edition and one from local newspaper Il Mattino.
The former of the two is the most exciting, explaining that Celtic want £25m (bonuses included) for the left-back, and with Arsenal offering just £15m, nothing is done yet.
Napoli are ‘serious’ and considering ‘overtaking’ the Gunners, because Tierney’s profile ‘pleases Carlo Ancelotti so much’, fitting ‘perfectly’ in the manager’s plans.
Over at Il Mattino, it’s a bit calmer, but the Serie A side’s interest is mentioned, where the 22-year-old is described as a ‘new target’.
The fact two newspapers have got the same story on the same day suggests someone let something slip, but there’s no indication as to who that could be.
Maybe it’s just an intermediary pushing for something to happen (maybe to put pressure on Arsenal) and we’ll undoubtedly find out a bit more in the coming days.
