On Tuesday, TuttoSport again reported Nottingham Forest are strongly in the mix to sign Juventus’ Douglas Luiz.
The midfielder’s agent Kia Joorabchian was set to speak to clubs in the Premier League about his client’s transfer just 12 months after a move away from Aston Villa.
A promising update has now emerged for Nottingham Forest, with Corriere dello Sport noting the Brazilian’s absence from Juve’s first training session after the Club World Cup today.
Douglas Luiz was the only player missing without permission and the belief is he has gone AWOL, with Juventus said to be furious. Players like Dusan Vlahovic – who are also expected to depart this summer, have turned up to the training session despite speculation surrounding their futures.
The 27-year-old is expected to be fined by the Bianconeri for his actions, amidst the newspaper’s belief that the Italian side are ‘trying to sell him to Nottingham Forest’.
Joorabchian will now be crucial, and there’s a chance the player’s camp are turning the pressure back on Juventus and pushing for a move on their terms, perhaps a simple without option. Whether that aspect would favour Nottingham Forest isn’t known.
