Thierno Barry is now one step away from completing his move to Everton, with the deal seen as nearly done in Spain.
El Periódico Mediterráneo cover the situation today and report that Barry will be the next player to depart Villarreal if there are no last-minute surprises.
He has practically secured his deal with Everton, who he will join just one year after arriving at Villarreal. The deal for him is worth €35m plus €5m in variables. That is described as an irresistible sum for Villarreal, given they spent €16m to sign him last year.
Another regional newspaper, Superdeporte, report that unless there is a last-minute surprise or change of direction, Barry will be joining Everton this summer.
Both newspapers state the transfer is ‘practically finalised’.
They also back up the fee, stating it will be €35m plus €5m in variables. They also describe the fee as irresistible for the Spanish side.
Furthermore, it’s worth noting that reports in France, such as this one by journalist Santi Aouna, have Villarreal moving for Evann Guessand.
He would be a direct replacement for Barry, which again suggests his move to Everton is creeping over the finish line.
