Vanja

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has been pushing to leave the Premier League side this summer.

Over the past few months, there’s been constant claims of interest from Serie A. Initially, Inter Milan were an option before the Nerazzurri closed the door on him.

Juventus and Napoli are also options for the Tottenham player in Italy. Last month, he had a meeting with Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna.

Three days ago, Sport Witness covered claims from Italy that Roberto De Zerbi held talks with Juve CEO Giovanni Carnevali for the 29-year-old. The two also discussed Richarlison, who is likely to leave Spurs after refusing to extend his contract beyond 2027.

Napoli’s idea to sign Tottenham man

Sunday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport covers the latest on the possibility of Guglielmo Vicario joining the Naples club.

Last season, Vanja Milinković-Savić was the first choice for Antonio Conte, but that won’t be the case under new Napoli manager, Massimiliano Allegri.

The 29-year-old Serbia international’s future is ‘still undefined’ and he’s attracting interest from the Premier League.

Hull City’s proposal hasn’t convinced the Naples club, and Leeds United move depends on the outcome of their negotiations for Parma’s Zion Suzuki.

Tottenham Hotspur can be the third possibility in England.

Corriere states: ‘A possibility that would meet multiple needs in one swoop: a swap with Tottenham, Guglielmo Vicario on the Golfo, and Vanja on the Thames. The valuations aren’t too far off…’

For now, this is only an idea, and the exchange will be difficult also because of Juventus’ interest.

The Old Lady have Guglielmo Vicario as an alternative to Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martínez. He will start in Argentina’s World Cup final clash against Spain later today.

Our take: Why exchange beneficial for Tottenham

Roberto De Zerbi now has Guglielmo Vicario, Antonín Kinský, Brandon Austin and Martin Dúbravka as the four goalkeepers at Spurs.

The latter has joined Tottenham Hotspur for free and Kinský has signed a contract until 2031.

Vicario’s future is likely to be away from the north London club.

An exchange with Napoli for Vanja Milinković-Savić will see Spurs get rid of an unhappy player and secure a reliable goalkeeper.

Therefore, the swap deal with Napoli involving the two stoppers could be beneficial for the Premier League side.
