Tottenham Hotspur signed Clément Lenglet on a loan deal from Barcelona last summer. He’s been a regular for the Premier League side this season, making 32 appearances and managing a goal and two assists in the process.
Earlier this month, Sport reported the north London club are willing to make the defender’s stay permanent after this season.
This is backed up by Saturday’s Mundo Deportivo, who add Tottenham have informed the La Liga side that they ‘want to sign him’ in the summer.
Spurs are ‘satisfied’ with the centre-back, both in terms of his performances on the pitch and his adaptation in the club.
Mundo believe the Premier League side may have communicated their desire to buy him to Barca sporting director Mateu Alemany, who is in England to finalise his move to Aston Villa.
The 27-year-old’s contract at the Camp Nou lasts until 2026. It’s now down to Tottenham to ‘convince’ the former Sevilla defender to join them on a permanent deal.
If they are successful, then it will be up to Spurs to satisfy Barca with an economic offer.
Mundo state the player is valued at €15-20m. Tottenham have already made their intentions clear and it’s now down to both Lenglet and Barca to make a decision.
