Tottenham Hotspur are ‘not out of the running’ yet for Bundesliga star Said El Mala but are yet to make any concrete efforts for him.

Sport BILD report on the 19-year-old Cologne sensation today and how, surprisingly, transfer interest in him appears to be dying down.

Tottenham yet to move

The winger is currently training on his own ahead of pre-season as he looks to build on an impressive debut campaign in the Bundesliga that has Europe paying close attention to his development.

He was expected to move on this summer in a €50m move but, that has yet to happen. Brentford thought they had secured his signature, only for his agent, his mother Sabrina, to cancel the deal at the last minute. Since then, there have been no new developments according to SportBILD.

The Premier League remains a possible destination, but so far, nobody has moved. This is despite head of recruitment Tim Steidten enjoying excellent contacts in England.

Tottenham remain an option and are ‘not out of the running’ yet. But there have been no concrete developments from them at present. Roberto de Zerbi’s side are instead focusing their efforts on other areas of their team.

Cologne want €50m

Said El-Mala

Sport Witness covered a report last month indicating that Tottenham could make a move for Said El Mala soon. But it appears that is yet to happen.

This is all playing into Cologne’s hands. They would be happy to keep the winger for another year and have no need to sell this summer, despite the €50m on offer.

At this moment in time, they are counting on the youngster being a part of their squad next season. That’s further evidence that the transfer fuss has quickly faded.

Of course, with the summer still young, there is plenty of time for that to change. But for now, Cologne are waiting for Tottenham or other suitors to do something.
