Galatasaray’s Victor Nelsson has several suitors in England, including Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, at least according to claims from Turkey.
Spurs have been repeatedly named as an interested club in the Turkish media for several weeks. They may have to battle it out with their north London rival in the chase for the defender.
According to Fanatik, Tottenham and Arsenal are insisting on signing the 24-year-old in the summer window.
The Denmark international came close to joining Sevilla last summer before the Istanbul club urged him to stay for one more season. It’s said Galatasaray had another meeting recently with the player but couldn’t convince him to extend his stay.
Therefore, the report states the ‘transfer negotiations continue’ as the ‘insistence’ of both Ange Postecoglou’s side and the Gunners to try and secure his services ‘continues’.
Fanatik add Galatasaray have set a €25m asking price and if Tottenham or Mikel Arteta’s side were to meet their demand, the Dane is ‘likely to leave’ in this window.
The Turkish club have identified Tottenham defender Davinson Sánchez as a candidate to replace Nelsson.
With the Colombian’s agent confirming Galatasaray’s interest, Fantaik say there could be ‘more concrete developments in a few days’ with regards to Sánchez and Nelsson. This may give Spurs an advantage over Arsenal in the race to sign the latter.
