FC Hansa Rostock CFO Roman Velke says their decision to sell Ryan Naderi to Rangers in February has significantly improved their finances.
In the winter market, the Ibrox club made multiple attempts to sign the striker. The third division German club were initially reluctant to sell their prized asset before eventually giving in.
Rangers reportedly paid over €5.5m, and the 23-year-old continues to have a key role at Ibrox under Derek McInnes.
Rangers move results in record deal for Hansa
On Sunday, the lower division German club had their annual general body meeting. That’s according to Monday’s edition of Neubrandenburger Zeitung, who covers what happened during that meeting and the impact of the Rangers deal.
Last season, FC Hansa Rostock missed out on a promotion to the second division. They finished fifth, three points behind second placed Energie Cottbus. Ryan Naderi’s stay may have helped them move to 2.Bundesliga this season.
However, his sale to the Ibrox club have resulted in a significant gain to the German club.
The newspaper states: ‘The club generated a total turnover of €44.2m last season (planned €36.1m) and recorded a profit of almost €2.7m (planned €767,000). These are exceptional figures for the 3. Liga.’
Roman Velke highlights the importance of selling the attacker to Derek McInnes’ current side.
“All revenue-generating areas have developed very positively. This, combined with the rather exceptional transfer of Ryan Naderi that we were able to complete, has resulted in a very strong financial performance,” he said.
“We sold the receivables we had against Glasgow Rangers to a bank without recourse. The proceeds were then used to pay off the debt to Obotritia.”

“It was a very good year for us. However, we must still distinguish between the fact that we didn’t achieve our sporting goals. But, in terms of the figures, it was a very positive financial year for us,” Maul explained.

Rangers move working out for all parties
Financially, FC Hansa Rostock have gained significantly by selling the player to the Ibrox club.
He managed three goals and three assists from 11 matches in the second half of the last season for Rangers.
This season, Ryan Naderi has managed four goals and three assists from 11 matches for Derek McInnes’ side. His performances have convinced the Czech Republic to poach him.
Their assistant manager, Radek Bejbl, has already confirmed the Rangers player is keen on playing for the Czech Republic. He’s waiting to sort out the paperwork to represent them during November’s international break.
This shows his decision to join the Scottish Premiership side is working out for him and the club.
