On June 3rd, Cadena Ser journalist Nil Sola explained that West Ham United have made an offer to sign Girona’s Aleix García, which is higher than the €16m offered by Bayer Leverkusen.
A day later, Mundo Deportivo said West Ham have offered him a deal worth €4m per year, and the 26-year-old needs to make a decision on his future.
Monday’s edition of AS says the player has three ‘tempting’ options, including West Ham.
The Spain international’s deal lasts until 2026, and Girona manager Míchel wants to retain him. This is one option, and the other two are West Ham and the Bundesliga winners.
It won’t be easy for Girona to keep him, considering the midfielder has already received important offers from West Ham and Bayer Leverkusen. The report says he could be sold for €20m in the summer window.
Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso personally contacted his compatriot a few weeks ago. He’s keen on joining them, especially since they can offer him Champions League football.
West Ham, on the other hand, haven’t qualified for Europe, and AS say García doesn’t like this at all. The Hammers could use their finances to tempt the player.
It’s claimed Julen Lopetegui is ‘in love’ with García, and his side have ‘presented the best economic offer’ so far.
