Tottenham have been encouraged to wrap up their deal for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner as soon as possible, as ‘other teams are ready’ to step in and sign him.
That’s according to Sky Germany, who follow up their earlier reports from today about a move for the German with a little less confidence on Tottenham’s part.
Sky and their journalists reported earlier today that Tottenham were on the verge of signing a loan deal for Werner to join them until the end of the season and that the striker was ready to fly out from Leipzig’s training camp to finalise the move.
They say that while the deal is close to completion, certain details still need to be clarified and the final negotiations will take place today on that front.
Tottenham are out in front as they’ve shown a willingness, alongside the face that they are ‘financially strong enough’ to take on the 27-year-old ‘voluminous salary’. Werner currently earns around €10m a year in Saxony.
Leipzig are happy with that and things are proceeding well but Sky state ‘if the Spurs deal falls through, other teams are ready’ to sign the striker.
In other words, Tottenham would be well advised to dot the I’s and cross the T’s as soon as possible to avoid the risk of missing out on a deal that is there to be done.
