League One side Burton Albion are eyeing up Degerfors coach Willian Lundin as their new manager.
That’s according to Fotboll Direkt, who report that Burton are chasing Lundin as their replacement for Mark Robinson.
He was sacked at the end of last month after a run of seven successive defeats in all competitions, with Burton currently bottom of League One.
Now they have turned their attention to Lundin, who has been impressing with Degerfors this season.
He arrived from IFK Gothenburg last November, arriving in a difficult period for the club that ended in relegation to the Superettan. A year later they are back in the Allsvenskan after a point away to Landskron BoIS secured promotion.
Degerfors is considered ‘one of Swedish football’s most exciting coaching names’ and a winner and Burton have taken notice.
They’ve contacted the 32-year-old about their vacant managerial position and, while an offer has not yet been made, Burton want to negotiate with him. Whether that means they will now approach Degerfors remains to be seen.
Lundin has a three-year deal with the club that he signed last year and, for the time being, is refusing to comment on the rumour.
“I cannot comment on any club at the moment,” he said.
“I am fully focused on Degerfors and cannot comment on whether Burton has been in contact with me.”
