Lloyd Kelly found himself on the front page of Tuttosport today as Juventus work on a deal to sign the Newcastle United defender.
Last week, Kelly had been linked with a move to Fenerbahce. The Super Lig club even went public to say they were in talks with the Magpies to try and reach a deal. Ultimately, Fenerbahce’s offer was refused and other, perhaps more attractive, avenues have opened up for the former Bournemouth player.
There’s been various other claims in Italy today, with Newcastle United’s asking price – generally presented as an obligation at the end of a loan – being put at anything up to €30m.
Gianluca Di Marzio now brings the latest on the situation. According to the very well connected Italian journalist, the Bianconeri (we’ll assume he’s referring to Juve here but it works for both clubs) are opening up to the idea of a loan with an obligation clause.
That mandatory purchase option would be based on achievements, such as where Juventus finish in Serie A and how much Kelly plays as they get there.
The Newcastle United player is just one of a number of options Juventus have, so it’s worth keeping that in mind.
