AC Milan have Nottingham Forest‘s Nikola Milenković on their agenda for the January window.
The Serie A side appointed Ruben Amorim as their new manager in June. He signed Mario Gila as the only new centre-back in his first window at the San Siro.
Amorim is looking for another central defender, and the Nottingham Forest man can be an option. Last month, Sport Witness covered a report from Italy explaining that Juventus showed interest, but a move never took shape.
Manager likes Nottingham Forest player
The Rossoneri manager has seen the 28-year-old up close while at Manchester United.
Ruben Amorim’s Red Devils faced Nottingham Forest three times and failed to register a win. The Serbia international even scored in their 3-2 win at Old Trafford in December 2025.
Calciomercato.it states the AC Milan boss likes Nikola Milenković, who spent seven years at Fiorentina before joining the Reds in 2024.
However, the Italian club’s priority is to sign Sporting’s Gonçalo Inácio. Amorim previously managed the 25-year-old Portugal international while with the Lions and wants to reunite with him at the San Siro.
Milan won’t make advances until Sporting lower their demand below €40m. If the Lions don’t, the former have identified the Nottingham Forest player as an alternative.
Why Nottingham Forest unlikely to sell for €28m
Both AC Milan and their manager like Nikola Milenković. He’s comfortable operating in a back four and a three-man defence and Ruben Amorim favours the latter.
Calciomercato.it states the Serbian’s valuation is around €28m. This is a ‘more affordable fee’ than paying €40m for Gonçalo Inácio in the winter market. In short, the Nottingham Forest defender is a cheaper alternative to Amorim’s former player.
Milan’s notion of signing Milenković for €28m seems misplaced for several reasons. This isn’t what Oliver Glasner’s side are demanding for the defender. Instead, the outlet took the figure from Transfermarkt.
Since making his Premier League debut for the Reds in August 2024, he hasn’t missed a single league match. The Serbian has played 97 matches, managing six goals and three assists and with a contract until 2029.
Taking these factors into account, it’s highly unlikely the City Ground club will sell him for €28m.
