Manchester United are again being named as a potential destination for Ajax striker Brian Brobbey.

The claims come from club watcher Mike Verweij, who spoke to the Kick Off podcast about the player’s situation and the likelihood of him wanting an Ajax exit in the next window.

Quoted by Soccer News, the pundit claimed that Manchester United have been willing to sign him for a while.

“I therefore agree with Valentijn that if Ajax continues to perform like this, it will be very attractive for Brobbey, especially after a good Euros, to go to the Premier League,” said Verweij.

“You know that Manchester United, where Ten Hag wanted to sign him before, is following him and what you hear is that the top of the Premier League is keeping a close eye on him.”

Brobbey has 18 goals and six assists in 31 appearances for Ajax this season, having scored 14 times in the Eredivisie, so the links to a Premier League move aren’t exactly a surprise.

There’s also some big expectations regarding his potential performance in the Euro, as he’s a newcomer with the national team and could be a surprising factor for the Netherlands.

Now since Manchester United have recently spent big on the arrival of Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta and the investment seems to be paying off, we wonder whether the Red Devils will really pay huge amounts for a new centre-forward in the next summer.

Right now, Brobbey is valued by Transfermarkt at just €15m, but the coming months should be crucial to bring those numbers up.
