Following the recent reports from Brazil and Portugal saying Tottenham Hotspur have failed in an attempt to sign Pepê from Porto, we now get to see another update on this chase.
Outlet Mercado Azul feature a story claiming that it’s the player’s agents who’ve been trying to negotiate his transfer at the end of the transfer window.
It’s said that in the past few days, Adriano Spadoto met with Tottenham and Paris Saint Germain.
The problem is that neither of the clubs showed willingness to trigger the player’s release clause, which stands at €75m.
Both Tottenham and PSG wanted to pay less, and with Porto demanding that high amount, the situation stalled. Still, it’s said neither of the clubs ‘completely closed the door’ to the transfer.
According to Mercado Azul, Spadoto is now on his way to Porto’s headquarters to speak to those in charge and ‘seek a solution’ for the player.
The report from A Bola claimed Tottenham’s offer was €45m up front plus €15m in bonuses. Goal Brasil didn’t say the amounts, but claimed that Porto didn’t like the formula presented by Spurs.
