Wolfsburg’s Maxence Lacroix is remaining silent as Crystal Palace continue to try and secure his signature.
That’s according to Wolfsburger Allgemeine, who report that Crystal Palace have not given up on a move as yet.
The newspaper reports that Lacroix isn’t talking right now, despite having made it clear he would like to leave Wolfsburg by the end of the summer.
He’s on Crystal Palace’s wish list, where Oliver Glasner would like a reunion, and the Eagles have made an initial offer to VfL managing director Peter Christiansen.
Crystal Palace want to pay €14m but that’s been instantly rejected by the German side. They want at least €20m for the defender.
It now remains to be seen if Crystal Palace will significantly increase their offer again to try and get a deal over the line.
In the meantime, Wolfsburg are trying to get Lacroix to end his contract. His current deal is set to expire next summer. The club’s supervisory board have given the green light to offering him a deal that would make him one of the top earners at the club.
The idea is that he could sign a deal with a fixed release clause for next year. That would ensure he can still leave, albeit in a year’s time, while Wolfsburg wouldn’t miss out on a transfer fee.
Everyone would like to know what the player would like to do. However, he is remaining silent and seemingly playing a poker game of his own.
It seems that could drag things along until the end of the window, with Crystal Palace and Wolfsburg both making their own efforts to win his signature.
