Tottenham Hotspur emerge as a surprise candidate to sign AC Milan’s Santiago Giménez in the summer.

The Mexico international hasn’t enjoyed a good run since joining the Serie A side from Feyenoord in January 2025. He had turned down Nottingham Forest to secure a move to the San Siro.

Tottenham can offer the striker an escape route, after a disastrous spell in Italy. He had six goals and three assists from 19 matches in the second half of last season.

However, the 25-year-old failed to impress this season as he couldn’t find the back of the net in the league. He finished with a goal [in Coppa Italia against US Lecce in September] and three assists from 18 matches.

Giménez picked up an ankle injury last November and only returned to the pitch in March. However, he continued to struggle when given minutes in recent months.

Last month, Sport Witness covered claims from Italy that his injury scuppered his January move to Sunderland. The Black Cats are reportedly looking at him for the next window.

Tottenham keen on frontman

Mexico’s TUDN report that ‘Santiago Giménez could leave AC Milan for Tottenham’.

He is focusing on representing El Tri at the World Cup hosted by his country and America.

TUDN analyst David Faitelson highlights updates shared by the channel’s journalist, Tito Villa, on Spurs.

After the tournament, the frontman doesn’t rule out making a big change in his career. As per Villa, the former Feyenoord man is ‘looking to leave’ the San Siro and could be on his way to England.

Giménez is attracting interest from the Premier League and specifically Spurs. A move to the north London club would ‘represent a significant change’ in his career.

Both the player and Roberto De Zerbi’s side had a disastrous season. He struggled with an injury and poor form, while Tottenham narrowly managed to avoid relegation. Therefore, it is a surprise that Spurs are looking at him.

Loan deal possibility for Spurs

There’s no mention of whether Santiago Giménez wants to leave on loan or a permanent transfer.

AC Milan are aware it’ll be difficult to recover large part of the €32m fee invested to buy him.

The Italian club could sanction a loan move, may be with an option to buy, to improve his value.

Transfermarkt value the Mexican, who has a contract until 2029, at €20m.
