On June 24th, we carried a report from Sky Italia explaining that Tottenham Hotspur chief Fabio Paratici had asked AS Roma general manager, Tiago Pinto, for information about Nicolò Zaniolo.

It was also stated the north London club are following the 23-year-old’s case with interest as the Serie A side plan to hold talks with his agent over a renewal, but only after the window closes.

He has two years left on his contract.

According to Calciomercato, the winger is an ‘old obsession’ of the Tottenham chief, from his time at the Turin club. Paratici has now made a trip to Italy and his ‘blitz’ to Milan can ‘offer the opportunity’ to push this file forward for Spurs.

In recent days, the Giallorossi have approached the Italy international, likely to discuss his renewal. Despite this step, the report states his sale is ‘not yet completely excluded’.

Roma will be open to parting ways with Zaniolo under the right conditions. In other words, a ‘rich offer’ is needed to convince José Mourinho’s side, who would prefer to sell him to a club outside of Italy.

It needs to be seen whether Paratici’s old obsession will be converted into a firm approach from Tottenham.
