Cyriel Dessers’ game time at Rangers in the Scottish Premiership has reduced in the last few weeks.

The striker last started a league game at the end of December but he only lasted 45 minutes, and Philippe Clement is looking to other options for his Rangers side.

Cagliari have repeatedly been mentioned as a potential destination over the past few weeks and their interest has not gone away.

Sardinian outlet La Nuova Sardegna have reported today, as relayed by TuttoCagliari, that Cagliari’s option to sign the Rangers striker ‘remains open’ and they are still interested in signing him.

Corriere dello Sport have reported along the same lines and they state that Dessers is someone that the Italian side continue to follow.

It’s an indication that the 30-year-old could yet depart Rangers in the last few days of the January transfer window.

He has previously had a stint in Serie A during his time with Cremonese, where he scored seven times in all competitions.

Rangers signed the Nigeria international for €5m in the summer of 2023 and it remains to be seen whether they’re offered a permanent or a loan deal.
