Tottenham could allow Eric Dier to leave quickly once they’ve wrapped up a deal for Genoa defender Radu Dragusin, with Roma still in the mix for him.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who say the Italian side are waiting to play their cards and reunite the defender with Jose Mourinho.

They explain that Mourinho has been promised a centre-back in this window with a deal for Leonardo Bonucci being held up and Evan Ndicka going to the Africa Cup of Nations.

The problem is the lack of resources available as Director of Football Tiago Pinto only has €2m to spend between fees and the player’s salary unless someone leaves the squad.

That’s why he’s been eyeing a move for Dier, who could be allowed to leave Tottenham on the cheap as his contract expires in the summer.

They’re currently waiting to see what happens first with Tottenham’s move for Dragusin before making their move, but it is expected that the Genoa man’s arrival will open the door for Dier.

CM state that ‘Roma’s chances are getting there’ early for the defender without paying any compensation are rising, but first Dragusin needs to be signed and sealed from Genoa.

That would ‘pave the way’ for Dier to head to Rome, where he would reunite with Mourinho and be a starter under him moving forwards.

It very much depends on Tottenham’s stance, though, as they can easily decide to keep Dier until the summer as cover should they wish even after signing Dragusin.
