Alexander Djiku’s deal at RC Strasbourg expired on June 30th and he’s currently without a club. Last month, we relayed news from France that Nottingham Forest have made an offer to sign him on a free transfer.
The Tricky Trees’ chances of securing the defender’s services have improved in the summer window.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who explain that Nottingham Forest and Fenerbahçe are the two clubs ‘now in the best position’ to sign the 28-year-old, despite Villarreal’s interest.
The report states the centre-back’s next destination could be between Steve Cooper’s side and the Turkish club as these two teams have ‘already sent an offer’ to him.
A move to Nottingham Forest will see Djiku feature in the Premier League while joining the Yellow Canaries will allow him to play in Europe, given Fenerbahçe are in the Europa Conference League.
It’s claimed the Ghana international wants to decide his next destination ‘quickly’, in order to start pre-season training at his new club.
Djiku has met new Strasbourg manager Patrick Vieira twice but the latter hasn’t managed to convince the player to continue. L’Equipe state his desire is to try a new experience in another league.
