Last week, Corriere dello Sport reported the possibility of Everton signing Flamengo’s Wesley and then loaning him out to AS Roma.

The belief was that this would aid the Giallorossi in avoiding any Financial Fair Play issues through the usage of the two clubs’ common Friedkin ownership.

Calciomercato.it have a different stance on the story and claim that there will be ‘no support from Everton’ in Roma’s deal for Wesley.

They believe that the Italian side will make new contact with Flamengo to potentially close a deal for the 21-year-old today. Despite having been offered other defenders, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side are pushing to sign Wesley.

The player has already agreed to join Roma and as things stand, the Brazilian club reportedly want around €25-30m to sell the right-back. Wesley is relying on his entourage to make progress the transfer soon, as he is keen on moving to Italy.

The idea of Everton helping Roma in the deal was only a hypothesis and now, it’s considered dismissed.
