West Ham’s Luizão could be heading back to Brazil, with Fortaleza pushing to sign the 23-year-old on loan until the end of the year.

As reported by journalist Felipe Silva, talks are ongoing, and West Ham are reportedly open to a free loan deal, including a purchase option.

Luizão is said to be keen on returning to Brazilian football, which strengthens the chances of an agreement. Fortaleza see the player’s willingness as a key advantage in the negotiations. Besides playing as a centre-back, Luizão is also capable of operating as a defensive midfielder.

The left-footed defender joined West Ham from São Paulo as a free agent at the end of 2022. He initially featured for the Hammers’ U21 side and later moved to their B team before going on loan to Polish side Pogoń Szczecin. There, he made 30 appearances and scored once last season. The Polish club attempted to renew his loan but failed to reach a deal.

This is not the first time Fortaleza have made a move for him, having previously tried to bring him in at the end of last year.
